BULLET BRIEFS

•    I read that the UN and others recently shut off their electricity for one hour to help combat global warming or something like that.  People think that Haiti is a backward country; well I am proud to announce that we here have our electricity shut off for about 14 hours a day.  This though does nothing to help with our food warming that sits in the fridge and makes the inside of the fridge smell like a pile of garbage.  Maybe we can use the fridge to make compost.

•    Just watched the National Geographic dvd: GUNS, GERMS, and STEEL, which is based on the Pulitzer prize winning book by JARED DIAMOND.  I had read the book a couple of months ago.

•    I am currently reading THE FULL POWER OF ENGAGEMENT (Managing Energy, Not time Is the Key to High Performance and Personal Renewal) by Jim Loehr and Tony Schwartz.  I am trying to get through it quickly but have been too tired to really get into it.  I’m working on it!

•    WOMEN’S MATCHING GRANT:  We as of two days ago have raised $10, 238 toward the 15k that we need to get a 15k matching grant.

•    I have a lot of music cds and a lot of songs on my ipod.  It seems to me that so much of the Christian music that is out there sounds the same.   I lately have been listening to the music of Larry Norman, who some call the father of Christian rock.  When I first became a believer, Norman was the guy that many of the former hippie types listened to.  And now almost 40 years later, I am still listening to his stuff.  His lyrics were insightful, inspired and before their time and now they’re still fresh and for this time.  Check him out.

•     Acts 8: 26 As for Philip, an angel of the Lord said to him, “Go south down the desert road that runs from Jerusalem to Gaza.”

You may never know why God has you on a desert road or what he has for you on the desert road.  Philip, didn’t seem to know, but he went where the angel told him to go.  And unbeknownst to him, there on that desert road was a man who was ready to be introduced to Christ.  Walk the desert road in faith and anticipation: God has something there for you and a reason for you to be on that road.
