WE GOT IT

Yes it is true, we yesterday took possession of the group truck, which I have officially named Indiana in commemoration of the 30 plus member group from Indiana that was here earlier this year and who just taxed us to the max as we struggled to transport them around.  So after they left we were determined to get a vehicle that can handle the groups that we so often have.

Yes, this is a picture of the actual truck.  Eight year old Isaac Livesay is at the steering wheel with Junior, Don and hope in the back.  Now the plan is to have a cage made for it to keep people from falling out, and to keep people from jumping in, and to protect the group people in the back.  The roof of the cage will be able to hold the luggage of the group.

Now we don’t actually have our own plate for the truck and so we are using a dealer’s plate.  We were told several days ago that the plate was ready, but it is very important in Haiti not to assume that you and the person that you speaking with are on the page.  For example several days back when the salesman said that the plate was ready I assumed that he meant that it was ready to be put on the truck.  This clearly was not the case.  So I have been thinking about what he could have meant when he said, "the plate is ready."

It may mean:

THE PLATE IS READY TO BE MADE BY THE PLATE MAKING PEOPLE

THE PLATE IS READY TO BE PUT ON A SLOW SHIP FROM CHINA TO HAITI

But enough of the complaining, at least the last two times were were at the dealership we were offered coffee. But after saying yes, it was never brought to us.  Maybe it wasn’t ready or maybe it comes with the plate.
