A BUSY TIME

Posted: December 24, 2009 in Uncategorized
It is a crazy busy time of the year here in Haiti and at Heartline.  In addition to the regular stuff that we do day in and day out, we are busy with extra church stuff at our church Port au Prince Fellowship.  We have a Christmas Eve service tonight and of course we on New Year’s Eve have a Watch Night service starting at 7:00 PM and running until sometime after midnight on January 1, 2010.

And to add to that it is the marrying season here in Haiti.  The month of December is perhaps the favorite month for people to marry here.  Yesterday we had a wedding rehearsal at the church and tomorrow on Christmas day we have another rehearsal for anther wedding.  On Christmas Day afternoon we will be having perhaps 50 people at our house for Christmas dinner.  On the 26th in the morning people will come and decorate the church for the first wedding and the wedding will take place in the afternoon.  After Sunday service, people will come in and decorate the church for the second wedding and the wedding will take place in the afternoon.

Each year I promise myself that I won’t do this again, but can’t seem to hold my ground when in a country where most people don’t get married, people come and want to obey God by getting married.

GROUP TRUCK

We now have the cage on the group truck and have the first coat of paint on it.  We starting today will put the second coat of paint on it.  The guys that made the cage did an amazing job and I never cease to be amazed at the work that the Haitians can do with a limited amount of tools and
equipment.

Pictured above are the guys carrying the cage to the truck so that they can put it in place.

Lifting the cage onto the truck and pushing it in place

After they put it in place they did a bunch of welding and finish work.  I arrived at 9:45 to have the cage installed and left there at 6:00 PM.  I brought three Bibles with me and some books, so I was prepared for the wait.

A group of four college students were in for a while and they started the first coat of white paint on the truck.

We within the next several days will have the painting finished and the bench seats in place.

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS POSSIBLE!!

MY FAVORITE QUOTE FOR THE YEAR 2009 IS:  "I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen; not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else." – C.S. Lewis
