A SLICE OF HAITI

BUYING LAND WITH  A VOODOO  TWIST

We would like to purchase a plot of land which is next to the Field Hospital which was the Boys’ House which will become the Mid-Wife Center. A few weeks ago the man who lives on the land with his family and is kind of the guardian asked the owner if he wants to sell it and the owner said, "No." So the other day I asked the man to check once again with the owner and yesterday afternoon he told me that the owner again said that he doesn’t want to sell the land.  He then told me that he could work on the owner so that he would sell us the land.  When I asked him what he meant, he said that he would do some mystic stuff.  This translates to mean that he will go to a voodoo man and tell the voodoo man what he wants and then pay the voodoo man to send a some some type of voodoo thing to the owner that will convince him to sell us the land.
I politely thanked him, refused his offer and told him that our God is quite capable of taking care of the situation.

A SIDE NOTE: I’ve told this man that I will give some money for he and his family to relocate to another place and so I think that he may do the voodoo thing anyway to get the relocation money.

THE HEARTLINE FIELD HOSPITAL

We thought that we would be closed by now, but it looks as if we are still several weeks away from closing as we continue to receive patients that need more longer term care  from other hospitals.  It is our privilege to be a place of comfort, security, and healing to our patients.

HOPE FOR HAITI

We are encouraged and strengthened by the resurrection of Christ.  He defeated death and the grave and so we know that all things are possible.  So we endeavor to look at what may seemingly appear impossible through the empty grave of Christ and we look to God and His resurrection power to help us be the hands of Jesus here in Haiti.
